Axpo signs PPA for 1.5-MW subsidy-free PV plant in Germany

Germany-based electricity retailer Axpo Deutschland has signed a five year power purchase agreement (PPA) to buy the output of a 1.5-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) farm constructed in southern Bavaria.

The PV plant was arranged without any state subsidies due to the PPA signed by the company, making it one of the very first of its kind in the German solar market, Swiss utility Axpo Holding AG said Thursday.

Developed and built by engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) service provider MaxSolar GmbH with investment from SEAC Holding GmbH, the PV facility is capable of producing around 1,570 MWh of electricity per year. This is enough to meet the consumption of 450 average four-person households.

No financial details on the agreement were disclosed.
