Switzerland-based Axpo Holding AG said today it has agreed to sell a 65.5-MW portfolio of wind farms in France to Irish infrastructure investment firm Greencoat Renewables Plc (LON:GRP).
Under the deal, the Swiss renewable power producer and energy trader’s subsidiary Volkswind will offload four wind parks that have been developed and commissioned between 2017 and 2022. Financial details about the arrangement were kept under wraps.
The portfolio’s plants are located in the Centre-Val de Loire and Bourgogne-Franche-Comte regions of central France and are equipped with turbines by Denmark’s Vestas Wind Systems (CPH:VWS) and Germany’s Nordex (ETR: NDX1) and Enercon. Namely, these are the 20.3-MW Genonville, the 19.8 MW Grande Piece, the 16-MW Arcy-Precy and the 9.4-NW Butte de Menonville parks.
The wind farms have a combined output of around 178,500 MWh per year.
The deal supports Greencoat’s geographical expansion, while for Axpo, it is an opportunity to “generate additional income and increase added value” from its renewable energy business, the Swiss firm said.
Axpo’s Volkswind currently has a project pipeline exceeding 3.5 GW, including schemes in various stages of development.
