Andhra Pradesh solar auction attracts 14.9 GW of bids - report

A tender in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh targeting 6.4 GW of solar capacity has attracted bids for a total of 14.9 GW, including one from the Adani Group for the entire amount on offer, local newspaper Mint reports.
Two informed sources have told the financial daily that Adani had submitted a proposal for 6.4 GW, while local firm Sri Sai bid for 5.8 GW, NTPC Ltd (BOM:532555) for 1.8 GW, Torrent Power Ltd (BOM:532779) for 300 MW and HES-SSISPL for 600 MW.
According to one of the unnamed people, a pre-bid meeting was held on December 22. Bids were due by December 29.
The capacity tendered by the Andhra Pradesh Green Energy Corp Ltd will require a total investment of about INR 256 billion (USD 3.5bn/EUR 2.85bn).
Mint writes that solar tariffs in India are seen to drop even below the record-low INR 1.99 per kWh registered just recently in an auction in Gujarat.
