Aug 20, 2013 - US concentrated photovoltaic (CPV) solar systems maker Amonix Inc said today its modules had achieved an efficiency rating of 35.9% under the standards of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).
This is the highest efficiency rating reached for PV technology, the firm noted.
During the tests, the company's CPV modules were exposed to conditions of 1,000 watts per one square metre (10.8 sq ft) and cell temperatures of 25 degrees Celsius. The tests were conducted between February and April.
In April, Amonix reached solar module efficiency of 34.9% at concentrator standard operating conditions (CSOC).
