Albanian zoning authority issues permit for Devoll hydro project
TIRANA (Albania), December 21 (SeeNews) – Albania's National Zoning Council has issued an infrastructure permit for the construction of an 800 million euro ($1.06 billion) system of three hydro power storage plants on the river Devoll, the government said.
The three hydro power plants will have a combined installed capacity of 319 megawatts and annual energy output of 985 gigawatt-hours, the government said in a statement on its website on Thursday.
The project is being developed by Devoll Hydropower, a 50/50 joint venture set up by Austria's EVN and Norway's Statkraft. The two partners signed the Devoll river concession agreement with the Albanian state in 2008.
