Albanian investors seek building permits for 2 HPPs of up to 2MW

Small hydropower plant (HPP).

TIRANA (Albania), December 28 (SeeNews) – Albania's energy ministry said it has received two applications for building permits for small hydro power plants (HPP) in the southwestern region of Lushnja.

Local companies Hydro Green Energy Thana and Hydro Green Energy Murriz intend to build a HPP of up to 2 MW each at the Thana reservoir near the town of Lushnja, according to a list of applications posted on the website of the energy ministry on Thursday.

Albania produces over 90% of its electricity from HPPs, most of it from three power plants along the Drin river, in the northern part of the country.
