Weekly renewables M&A round-up (May 16-20)
May 20, 2022 17:01 CESTTIRANA (Albania), June 8 (SeeNews) - Albania's minister of infrastructure and energy Belinda Balluku has said that French renewables company Voltalia is expected to start the construction of a 140 MW photovoltaic park in Karavasta coastal area in November, local media reported on Monday.
The Albanian government expects fast progress in the field operations once they start, ATA news agency quoted Balluku as saying in an interview.
Voltalia won the tender for the construction of the solar power park in late May. Under the contract, Voltalia will sell half of the electricity produced at the solar park to Albania's state energy distribution company for 24.89 euro per MW/hour, less than half the price ceiling of 55 euro. The remaining half will be sold in the market.
Albania's energy ministry opened the tender for the construction of the solar park near the southwestern city of Fier in January. The project is expected to have a total cost of around 128 million euro ($144.6 million).
