Agilyx, A.Eon plan plastics-to-energy project in Australia
US-based Agilyx Corporation and Australian company A.Eon Holdings Pty Ltd on Wednesday announced a memorandum of understanding under which they will study the construction of a waste-to-energy facility using Agilyx's plastics recycling technology.
The planned plant, to be located in Melbourne, Victoria, will use Agilyx's technology to convert mixed waste plastic into Agilyx Synthetic Crude Oil. A.Eon will then use the fuel to produce power for the state government's Footscray Hospital project, local industry and to help meet peak energy demand.
The 50-tonne-per-day facility is expected to convert up to 20,000 tonnes of waste plastic into over 60,000 MWh of power annually.
There will an option for A.Eon to develop additional commercial-scale facilities across Australia in the future.
