Aeris Energy to invest USD 56.9m in Bahia wind blades factory construction
Jun 12, 2012 - Brazilian start-up wind equipment company Aeris Energy will invest BRL 117 million (USD 56.9m/EUR 45.6m) in the construction of its wind blades factory in northeastern Bahia state.
The executive director of the company, Bruno Vilela Cunha, yesterday signed a letter of intent (LoI) for the project with Bahia's secretary of Industry, Trade and Mining.
With a 100% Brazilian capital, the factory will be installed in Feira de Santana, creating 800 jobs. When operating at full capacity, it will produce 2,000 blades per year.
The factory is seen to start operations by the end of 2013.
Bahia's government is currently taking measures to stimulate the purchase of wind equipment by the parks planned to be installed in the state, secretary James Correia noted.
According to Cunha in turn, the location of Aeris' plant offers many advantages, including in terms of logistics as the unit's proximity to the road network will make easy the transport of the production.
