Spanish renewable energy producer Acciona Energia (BME:ANE) said on Friday that it has started assembling a 2.43-MWp on-site solar PV system in Salamanca, Spain, for veterinary medicines company MSD Animal Health.
The job represents phase II of a 2.7-MWp solar self-consumption installation project for the global animal health firm, which in Salamanca operates a complex for the production of animal vaccines. The first phase entailed the installation of 290 kWp of solar panels on canopies and car parks at the company’s campus II. These panels were put into operation last October, Acciona Energia said.
In the second phase, the renewables company will install some 4,500 solar panels at various locations on campuses I, II, III and IV.
Acciona Energia is providing the solution under the energy as a service model, investing its own funds for the installation and operation and maintenance of the system. MSD Animal Health will procure the electricity via a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with Acciona Energia.
MSD Animal Health is a division of US pharmaceuticals company Merck & Co Inc (NYSE:MRK).
