ABB wins USD 4.5m wind power technology supply deal in Australia
(ADPnews) - Oct 15, 2010 - ABB Australia, unit of Swiss-Swedish engineering group ABB Ltd (VTX: ABBN) said on Wednesday it won a USD-4.5-million (EUR 3.2m) order to supply power technology for a wind farm project in Western Australia.
Under the deal ABB will supply 200 custom-build Safewind medium voltage 33kV switchgears for the 111 wind turbine towers of the project.
The USD-750-million 206 MW wind farm is expected to generate 792,000 MWh of electricity a year, enough to supply 125,000 households, saving more than 700,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, according to its developers, UBS Infrastructure International Fund and Australian superannuation fund Retail Employees Superannuation. Its construction is scheduled to finish by April 2012.
