SOFIA (Bulgaria), December 15 (SeeNews) – Power and automation technologies provider ABB said on Thursday it is about to finalise the works it was contracted to perform on a $50 million (38.5 million euro) solar park that South Korea's SDN Company is building in the area of Sliven, in southeast Bulgaria.
The solar park will have an installed capacity of 9.0 megawatts (MW) and should be completed in January, ABB Bulgaria said in a press release.
As part of the project, ABB is responsible for the electrical AC works: design, delivery of equipment and materials, installation, testing and commissioning of inverters and dry cast-coil transformers. The photovoltaic components are designed, delivered and commissioned by SDN Company's Bulgarian unit, the project owner and developer.
ABB has also been involved in other SDN photovoltaic projects in Bulgaria.
It has delivered the grid connection and electrical AC equipment for the 20 MW Samovodene solar plant near Veliko Tarnovo which went into operation in July; for the 25 MW Zlatarica solar plant also located in the Veliko Tarnovo area which was due to come on stream in December; and for the 5.0 MWp Ostar Kamuk solar plant.
ABB operates in Bulgaria through three companies in five locations, employing over 1,000 staff. The three local ABB production units are located in Petrich, Sevlievo and Rakovski.
